Tweedbank 6th August 2011 Report


As all who attended Tweedbank can attest we got another good soaking on Saturday but that did not deter the excellent body of Athletes who competed. Special thanks also go to Officials on the day.


Fergus Rule , Leithenburn claimed a close victory from Kazya Stevens , Moorfoot and Robbie Renwick Peebles in the 90 metre Junior final winning time was 11.57sec.

Kerr Gerrard , Selkirk claimed his first ever victory on the Borders Circuit in the Youth`s 90 metre just holding of backmarker Ryan Elliot , Hawick in 9.95sec with Daniel Chapman , Kelso in third place.


The 800 metre open was a close run affair with Rory Anderson , Hawick , Andrew Thompson , Jed AC Stuart Somervail , Jed AC and Mark Young , Hawick battlning it out in the final run in and it was Rory who once again this season lasted out the best winning in 1min 53.02sec from Andrew and Stuart.

Running from the back mark Fraser Wardhaugh swept past his rivals in the 800 metre Youth`s to win in 1min 57.27sec , Kyle Potts , TLJT just made it into second place ahead of Scarlet Yates , Jed AC and Rory Williams , Chirnside.


Veteran sprinter Bruce Scott , TLJT running on his home turf was too strong in the final of the 90 metre Open holding off a determined challenge from James Parker , Hawick in 9.26sec third was David Hush , Hawick.

Daniel Elliot , Hawick looked majestic in taking the 200 metre Junior from Phillipa Robertson , Hawick and Mhairi Davidson , Moorfoot. Winning time was 27.02sec

Not to be out done by his younger brother Ryan Elliot , Hawick went one better than his second place in the 90 metre to win the 200 metre Youth`s in the excellent time of 22.31sec running off 7 metre well done. Second place went to Charlie Wilson , TLJT and third Craig Smith , TLJT.


David Hush , Hawick made a welcome return to winning ways in the 200 metre open just doing enough to push Darrin Scott , TLJT and Bruce Scott , TLJT (running off a pulled mark) into the minor places in 20.66sec.


Adam Craig , TLJT set off at a sprint in open 1600 metre and his victory was never in doubt in the fast time of 4min 15.72sec. Dean Whiteford , Innerleithen and Darrell Hastie , Kelso stormed past Gary Law , Hawick in the final metres to take the minor places.


Next week see`s the last of this years Border Games at Morebattle on Saturday with the Youth`s and Adult`s points leagues being decided and also the final invitations to the B.S.L.T. Classic handed out.
