Jedburgh Border Games Results 2019

Jedburgh Border Games commenced on Saturday in what can only be described as foul weather conditions and for a time looked like would persist for the afternoon. Fortunately however, it suddenly brightened up to a glorious day.

The main event of the day the Jedforest 110m Sprint always seems to produce a cracking final and it was the same this year. You will have seen the photos and video footage and it was a surprised looking Rianna Sterricks of Lasswade AC who took the top honours and a first prize of £3000. It very much looked like Ryan Elliot would haul Rianna in but she was resolute in holding Ryan off with Brodie Cowan taking 3rd.

It’s been a great week for the youngsters from Lasswade AC with Murray Blair having won the sprint at CERF and now Rianna landing Jed.

The 800m was a fantastic race with the being run off in 2 heats and a final. What a final it was with the gutsy Wallace McGown holding off the fast finishing James Gillon with Sarah Ross in third.

The Borders Sprint 100m Championship saw Allan Hamilton and Greg Kelly hit the line together and after consulting the video technology the judges were unable to split them and awarded a dead heat.

After his recent close finish in the 400m at CERF, Gordon Armstrong the Kelso based athlete held off Kyle Potts to win the 400m

His training compatriot Josh Abbot emerged victorious in the 200m.

Ryan Milligan is in a rich vein of form at the moment and took first in the 1500m.

Brodie Cowan was the victor in the 100m Ladies Race.

There was an overseas winner in the Veterans Race which saw Mathew Newton of Australia holding off John Fleming.

In the Youths 90m Races Finlay Douglas and Connor McLeod were the winners of the A and B races.

In the 200m A it was Sean McMichan and Jason White in the B.

Charlie Robbie was the winner in the 400m

In the distance races it was Conor Harper in first place in the 800m and Charlie Stewart in the 800m.
