The curtain came down on the Borders Athletics season at Morebattle yesterday.
The day started with monsoon like conditions and it looked like the rain was going to be unrelenting with very few daring to brave leaving there cars.
However, after an hour of competition the rain stopped and it turned into a pleasant afternoon.
The Open 110m Sprint once again produced a great race with the backmarker in the final, Marcus Archer just getting up to catch Brodie Cowan on the tape with Graeme Armstrong in third. The winning margin was 0.02. Marcus was also awarded Best Performance of the day.
The Youths 90m Sprint Championship saw Euan Amos take the victory from Tess Renwick and Ryan McMichan.
There was a family double from the Paxton household with father John taking first place in the 200m and son Daniel winning the 400m.
The 800m was won by Grant Kennedy from the consistent David Priestley and Gavin Taitt.
Darrell Hastie emerged as winner of the 1600m from Wayne McIntosh and Sarah Ross.
In the Youths 1600m there was a great finish to the race with Darrell’s son Oliver just getting pipped by Robbie Welsh.
The Youths 800m was won by Aaron Glendinning who has had a great season with Matty Fleming in second and Irvine Welsh third.
The Youths 200m A and B Races were won by TLJT with Tommy Beck taking the A race and Evie Renwick the B Race.
The Youths 400m saw Ruby Laing win from Louis Bonini and Jason White.
